After years of lobbying, Member for Frome Geoff Brock MP is relieved and pleased the State Liberal Government has announced funding for upgrades to sections of the Horrocks Highway in his electorate.
Funding will come from the newly established Royalties for Regions scheme which will see about $2.5million of road upgrades planned for the Highway.
Road improvements will address some areas of the Highway in the Frome Electorate that are in particular need of maintenance and upgrading, and will include rehabilitation works near Collinsfield, Angle Grove and Stone Cutter Roads between Yacka and Bungaree in the Mid North.
“The news that funding will go to making part of the Horrocks Highway safer for motorists and heavy vehicle drivers is very welcome,” Mr Brock said
“I have been passionate about upgrades for this important tourist and transport route, which is also the main artery connecting Mid North residents to Adelaide.
“My concerns were mentioned to the Premier, Steven Marshall, during my discussions immediately after the election and I have also discussed the issues with Transport Minister Stephan Knoll.
“It is heartening to see the Government has listened to its rural constituents and that money will be spent on these essential upgrades,” Mr Brock said.
Also included in the spend is one of the worst sections of the Highway on the section from Roseworthy to the Wasleys turnoff at Templars to ameliorate the undulations along the 8.3km stretch which has topped the RAA’s list of dangerous South Australian Roads.
