The State Government is supporting WorkReady training for the Food and Agricultural Industries with two courses running this month.

“Both these sectors are desperate for workers, so I applaud this initiative by the State Government who are working with industry training specialists to provide training opportunities,” Member for Frome Geoff Brock said.

Mr Brock said the release of the two courses – Introduction to Agricultural and Basic Skills for the Food Industry has been timely.

“While the Pandemic has had devastating impacts for businesses and employees over the past 12 months there has still been a continuing need for agricultural workers in regional areas, while our hospitality and tourism businesses have reported increasing activity as the restrictions have eased.”

The short courses are available to the unemployment and employed through either WorkReady funding or Job Trainer funding.

Introduction to Agriculture is currently being delivered in Clar through a combination of online theory work and a two-day workshop.

Basic Skills for the Food Industry is a short course made up of five units which will provide participants with a range of relevant skills and will be delivered face to face in Clare over four days, beginning March 22.
