A Notice of works
Joy Baluch AM Bridge Duplication Project
Changed Traffic Arrangements - Augusta Highway, Port Augusta
The Joy Baluch AM Bridge is an important link in the National Land Transport Network at Port Augusta, providing access across the Spencer Gulf for commuter, commercial and freight vehicles in the northern region of South Australia. It is also a key tourist connection to the Eyre Peninsula, northern South Australia and beyond.
The $200 million Joy Baluch AM Bridge Duplication Project is a joint initiative of the Australian and South Australian governments (80:20) and is being delivered by the Port Wakefield to Port Augusta (PW2PA) Alliance.
To safely facilitate scheduled maintenance activities, speed and lane restrictions will be in place between Mackay Street and Burgoyne Street/Caroona Road, from 1 July 2024 until early August 2024, weather permitting. See map overleaf for detail.
Activities on the bridge will occur every day between 7am-7pm during this period.
Pedestrian access across the Joy Baluch AM Bridge will be maintained, with pedestrians required to use the footpath on the eastern side of Augusta Highway to walk between Mackay Street and Burgoyne Street/Caroona Road (see map here).
There will be changes to traffic conditions to keep everyone safe. Please follow traffic management directions.
During the works, there will be some noisy disruptions from time to time, but we'll do our best to keep the noise to a minimum.
