The Blinman Progress Association (BPA) is very proud to announce that its Blinman Roadside Services precinct is open for use.
Beginning in late 2022 and with funding from the Outback Communities Authority (OCA) Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program Phase 3, and many local volunteer hours, the project brings essential roadside services such as a waste station and caravan dump point to the site two kilometers south of Blinman on Mine Road. Signage and landscaping were also part of the project. A potable water dispenser unit will complete the trio of services in the near future.
Blinman has seen increased visitation over recent years with improved road access, and attractions such as the popular Blinman Underground Mine Tours, leading to the pressing need for increased services for visitors.
The new area is an attractive, low maintenance, solar-powered sustainable facility with services for the use of the local population and visitors, encouraging people to visit and stay in the town. It is a community asset managed by the BPA and will help to grow the town of Blinman's reputation as a sustainable and vibrant community where tourists are very welcome.
The project has come to fruition through a collaboration with the project’s working group made up of volunteer BPA members, the BPA Executive Committee, and key agencies such as OCA, DIT, Health SA, SA Water, and the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia. The BPA also greatly appreciated help with site construction and clean up, from a hard working team of volunteers from the Toyota Land Cruiser Club of SA.
The BPA thanks everyone for their involvement and support over the duration of this project, and they hope the new Roadside Services precinct will be a popular and useful addition to tourist services in the Blinman area for years to come.
