REGIONAL EVENT FUND

The South Australian Government recognises the huge impact that COVID-19 has had on the events sector in South Australia.

The Regional Event Fund is designed to strengthen the state’s regional events calendar and drive economic stimulus across the regions beyond the traditionally peak summer tourism period.

Through the South Australian Tourism Commission, the State Government is committing an additional $1 million to South Australia’s regional events in 2021/22 to strengthen the regional events calendar by encouraging the development of new and innovative regional events, grow existing events, and drive increased visitation and economic stimulus to the regional economy.

Applicants can seek funding grants from $5,000 to more than $50,000 (excluding GST). There are four categories in the Regional Event Fund, outlined below.

The 2021-22 Regional Event Fund four categories:

  • Significant Event Funding (from $50,000) – up to three years’ funding for new large-scale signature events that have the potential to be nationally or internationally significant and which provide substantial visitation, media and profiling opportunities and economic impact for South Australia.
  • Established Event Funding ($20,000 to $50,000) – up to three years’ funding for events that can demonstrate a strong track record of growth and a strategy for event innovation
  • Development Event Funding ($10,000 to $20,000) – up to three years’ funding for events that demonstrate potential for growth and development
  • Emerging Event Funding ($5,000 to $10,000) – up to two years’ funding for events that are 1-3 years young, with a focus on smaller community events.

Applications for Significant Event Funding will be accepted year-round. Applications for all other categories of 2021/22 Regional Event Funding for round 1 will close at 5pm on Monday 12 April 2021.
