Governor’s Civics Awards Open – Year 5 Students

The first ever Governor’s Civic Awards for Schools program is now open to all Year 5 students across the state.

The competition aims to highlight the importance of civics and citizenship education in the context of South Australian history.

Students are invited to submit either an audio or written response on why it’s important for young people to know about the establishment and early years of the South Australian colony.

Schools can also nominate a group of students in their schools who have demonstrated outstanding civic involvement.

Winners will be announced on Proclamation Day this year and in 2020 the awardees will be invited to a reception at Government House for official recognition by the Governor.

From next year the program will be open to all students from Years 5 to 12 and will include Individual, Group and School categories.

Entries Close:  Friday 6 December
