Livestock Underpass Grant Scheme

Livestock underpass grants are funded by the Regional Growth Fund to provide financial assistance to eligible livestock primary producers, abattoirs and saleyards to establish livestock underpasses linking farming properties (or abattoir or saleyard) that are crossed by public roads.

Funding will cover the costs associated with an independent authorised contractor approved by the relevant public road authority for services and materials needed for the construction and installation of new livestock underpass projects. Written quotes or cost estimates from an independent third-party suppliers will need to be included with your application.

A total of $500,000 in grants is available for the construction and installation of new livestock underpass infrastructure.

The maximum grant that can be claimed per eligible applicant is:

  • $200,000 (GST exclusive) for works associated with a Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) managed road – up to 40% of the total costs
  • $100,000 (GST exclusive) for works associated with a road that is not managed by DIT – up to 50% of the total costs.
