Lifeline Stigma Challenge

I’m Hon Geoff Brock MP, Member for Frome, Port Pirie local and long term advocate of Suicide Prevention programs and Mental Health awareness, particularly in Men; who represent 3/4 of suicide deaths in Australia.

I’m inspired by the work of Lifeline Broken Hill Country to Coast and wish to support their work locally while raising much needed awareness about Men’s Mental Health, to get us talking openly about mental health and the impacts it has on our lives, to support and listen to each other and encourage each other to seek help when times get tough.

On the 14th of August in Port Pirie, upon reaching my fundraising target, I will complete a challenge put forward on the Lifeline Broken Hill Country to Coast Facebook page or on this page. I will also match donations up to a total of $5000.

Please help me reach my target by the 14th of August by using the ‘Give Now’ button. All funds raised will directly support the establishment of the Port Pirie Lifeline Connect Centre. The Lifeline Connect Centre project is an early intervention and prevention community centre which provides a gateway to suicide prevention services and information. The establishment of a Lifeline Connect Centre will enable the delivery of specialised suicide prevention counselling services and importantly, people in the community will have access to Lifeline services without a referral, without a mental health diagnosis and without needing to meet specific criteria.

The more people, especially men, that know about Lifeline, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
