Koolunga 150th Anniversary

Koolunga celebrated their 150th Anniversary and Paul Jones, Koolunga Development Board Chairperson spoke about the history of Koolunga.

The 15th of July 1869 the hundred of Koolunga was declared and the township was surveyed and pegged out out in 1875. The first hotel was built in1876 and the Koolunga Bridge was opened to traffic in 1879.  Driving through Koolunga you will notice the sugar gums which line the main street some of the original ones still remain which were planted in 1893 and were sourced from the Bundaleer Forrest, making them over 120 year old.

Geoff was honoured to unveil the 150th Commemorative Plaque pictured with Paul Jones.
