Win for Owen Road
A stretch of the Owen to Hamley Bridge Road will receive critical repairs to its dangerous condition following a request to the Minister by Frome MP Geoff Brock.
Mr Brock wrote to State Transport Minister Stephan Knoll earlier this year, with a follow up in July, asking for consideration of the repairs due to the road’s undulation and pavement deteriorations which were causing safety concerns.
“The condition of our roads is paramount to user safety and I believe the section of the Owen Road between Alma and Holman Roads is deserving of funding for maintenance,” Mr Brock said.
“It is very pleasing to hear back from Minister Knoll that this length of about 800 metres has been scheduled for rehabilitation works in the 2019/20 financial year, with plans for completion by March 2020, weather permitting.”
The Minister said the estimated cost of the work was $500,000 and was yet to be tendered and awarded.
